(10.1) Media [Innovative Use of Media] — MERIT, Thermometer Loading Bar - Heavy Traffic, lumberjack & Air Conditioner, TBWA Kuala Lumpur

GreenLife CSR wanted to create awareness of greenhouse effect which causes global warming. To reach the masses, online media was chosen because it was the most effective medium for this exercise in terms of cost and effectiveness.

Air-Conditioner: To educate people on global warming, we show a viral video of air-conditioners and use the red loading bar of YouTube as a thermometer. As the air-conditioners' compressors continue to hum, the temperature goes higher. The copy says "air-conditioners bases trap heat 1,600x more than Co2. Help stop global warming." It is further substantiated with a caption from UN Report.

Lumberjack: To educate people on global warming, we show a viral video of deforestation and use the red loading bar of YouTube as a thermometer. As the deforestation progresses, the temperature goes higher. The copy says "Deforestation causes 20% of global greenhouse emissions. Help stop global warming." It is further substantiated with a caption from from IPCC Report.

Heavy jam: To educate people on global warming, we show a viral video of heavy traffic and use the red loading bar of YouTube as a thermometer. As the heavy traffic progresses, the temperature goes higher. The copy says "Every litre of petrol emits 11.5kg of CO2. Help stop global warming." It is further substantiated with a caption from Union of Concerned Scientists.
